"Heroes and Legends: A Caidan Calendar of Peerage and Mythology" will debut at Caid's Coronation on Saturday, November 10, 2007. The week before its official release, the calendar had already sold over 100 advance copies!

We expect enthusiasm for this year's calendar to far surpass the phenomenal response to last year's "Benedictions," which raised over $3400 for our fair Kingdom!

Our 2008 calendar features the talents of a photographer best known for her work on Hollywood movie posters, plus the return of Sir Mons's amazing digital illustrations. Over 60 photogenic Caidans modeled for this year's images, re-creating famous medieval and Pre-Raphaelite paintings of legendary figures and events.

Suggestions after our 2007 calendar were: 1) Add more girls, and 2) Feature more people from different backgrounds (not just Knights). The populace asked, and we listened! The 2008 edition features beautiful ladies along with handsome lords, plus an array of participants from diverse walks of SCA life.

The monthly images are:

January – Robin Hood, after N.C. Wyeth
February – The Death of Actaeon, after Titian
March – Vulcan's Forge, after Velasquez
April – The Birth of Venus, after Botticelli
May – Cain Killing Abel, after Titian
June – The Dance of Salome, after Gozzoli
July – Abduction of the Sabine Women, after Poussin
August – Jupiter and Io, after Allegri
September – Feast of Bacchus ("The Drunkards"), after Velasquez
October – Medusa, after Rubens
November – Sigurd Slaying Fafnir, after a Norwegian carved church
December – The Death of Arthur, after James Archer

Some of the most stunning images include Duke Sir Armand as King Arthur, Baron Laertes as Robin Hood, Master Giles as Apollo, and the return of Sir Philippe as John the Baptist! The summer months once again contain the raciest photos…although this year, summer seems to begin around February and end about September. (Don't you just love Caidan weather?!)

Calendar sales, at $15 "suggested minimum donation" each (plus $5 shipping and handling for mail orders), will continue to help offset the budget deficit Caid suffered through the unavoidable cancellation of Great Western War in 2006. For mail orders, please e-mail Arianna at CaidFundraiser@aol.com for payment information.

The calendar is expected to sell out very quickly, since we have only ordered 400 copies, and we will not be re-ordering when those are gone. (Last year, "Benedictions" sold 150 copies within the first hour at Coronation.) So – shop early, and don't miss your chance to own another legendary work of Caidan art!
