Spooky Subtleties using Period Recipes

For those of you who may not know, a subtlety is a special illusion food or charade type of dish. Food that is made to look like something else. Or to entertain. One that you might think of today is a cake that is shaped as a dragon or marzipan fruits. Medievally, you might recall hearing about four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie. Or maybe the Cocktrice? A dish which was made for a feast, that combined a pig and a capon to look like a mythical creature. Let’s see what spooky creation you can come up with!
