Baroness' Bardic and Birthday Banquet
Saturday, November 1, 2008
Milords and ladies, all are invited to join in the festivities as Lyondemere
raises their goblets to their beloved Baroness Angelina Nicolette de Beaumont
at this, the first Baroness' Bardic and Birthday Banquet Saturday,
November 1, 2008.
Prepare for an evening of bardic, revelry, gaming, bardic, dancing, feasting,
and maybe some bardic thrown in for good measure. This early evening event
will start off with a "beginners welcome" open bardic circle.
You say you prefer to spend your time on a good game of chess or backgammon?
Tables will be set up for play and some games will be provided. But if
you have a favorite Tarot deck or would like to challenge someone to the
new period game you just learned, feel free to bring it along. Other creative
games are being invented to increase the revelry and social time. I'm
not making any promises but "Gondola Races" anyone?
In honor of Her Excellencies persona, we will be having a Venetian
theme throughout the event. People's Choice Prizes will
be given out for different categories. Bring out your finest Italian garb
and maybe a pair of chopins and you may win more than praises for your
efforts. Those of you whose artistic flair cannot be restrained, we encourage
you to create a mask to wear to this event. We will be awarding
a People's Choice Prize for the favorite mask. Youth activities will
have supplies for those who wish to create a mask at the event. Bring
your prettiest table coverings and more as we will also be holding a competition
for "Best Table Decoration," and extra points for those who
go with a Venetian theme. There will be a bardic challenge for those creative
souls who are moved to write and perform an original piece in either prose
or song inspired by our Baroness Angelina.
The feast will also be Italian in theme and is being prepared by the
lovely and talented Lady Cristal Delamer. Please see the menu below. Reservations
that are paid in advance are recommended as seating will be limited. Unpaid
reservations will be held until 4 PM on the day of the event and then
will be released to be purchased by others. Reservations and questions
can be emailed to baronessbirthday2008 lyondemere.org
Paid reservations need to be sent to one of the autocrats listed below
by October 17, 2008. Please make
checks payable to SCA Inc./Barony of Lyondemere. Off-board seating
will be available (space at a table, to eat your own food if you cannot
eat the presented feast). This is a "wet" site, which means you can feel
free to bring your favorite bottle of brew or wine with you. The feast
will be followed by performances in our "Bardic Invitational," with music
and dancing.
