Scenario

Scenario: Early 14th Century Scotland….

Ceana inghean Domhnall was always a bit of a rough lass. Aye, she was pretty enough with a fine figure and mane of curls, but all through her growing years she had scrapes on her knees and dirt on her clothes as she ran to keep up with her older brothers. It’s been a year now since the death of her mother, Muireall, and her father has no idea what to do with her. But he knew he had to do something soon as the girl was almost 18 and he dinnae want her to become an old maid. She should have had many suitors but alas, the wee ball of fire had scraped with most of the young lads growing up.

No amount of beauty could make them forget the thrashings they had at her hands, and although they cared for her, they could not see her becoming their loving and devoted wife. No, Ceana would need a strong man from far away, with a careful and kind hand. It struck! An idea! He would wed her to an English Lord. The fighting was over. And although there were still many that held ill feelings, this union would help to mend those fences. After all, as the leader of the clan, it was his duty to ensure a peaceful future.

Now how to make a true lady of her. Before she died, her mother had managed to teach her to use a needle and thread so she was fine there. She had always helped with the other young ones so he had no concerns about her ability to raise her own.  He himself taught her to read, write, and figure, so there would be no problem with her managing to understand the finances of a household. But how to impress? Of course! She will learn to create fantastic food to thrill a man’s appetite and bring pride into an English home. Now to fetch the cook! Lessons will start immediately! There is no time to waste!

  • The contest will be limited to four teams. Team size will be up to four members with one listed as Head Chef, two assistant chefs, and a scullery. The Head Chef is the only one who can win the title of Cast Iron Chef. Competitor registration will open on March 5th and will close on April 2nd or when all spots are full, whichever comes first.

  • Any team wanting to compete must email us at CIC@Lyondemere.org to let us know their intent.  They will need to supply the name of their team, list the Head Chef, and give everyone's contact information. We will also need to charge each team a $20 entry fee. The entry fee goes towards the cost of the food given to you to prepare.
